Created by a physician bioengineer (MD. PhD) the patented PULSE system uses 3 techniques:
Pulsing: Instead of using static compression (squeezing) to transport fluid out of the limbs, the NormaTec system uses dynamic compression (pulsing). The pulsing helps move lactic acid from the muscle into the bloodstream for faster recovery.
Gradients: Veins and lymphatic vessels have one-way valves that prevent fluid backflow. The NormaTec system mimics this by using hold pressures to keep fluids from being forced in the wrong direction.
Distal Release: The NormaTec system is designed to hold and release pressure in each zone sequentially to allow each portion of the limb to have maximal rest time without a significant pause between compression cycles.
